Research: Investigating the opportunity to apply
a new technology in the Chinese market.
The Intel Kids' PC is a new concept to bridge the
contradiction between Chinese traditional education methods and
contemporary technology. Research was critical to understand how
the target group behaves and how the people think with regard to
technology. The goal was to ensure that the technology is applied
in a way that is effective and valuable.
Why is this new product needed?
If new technology responds to user needs in a new and better way,
the result will be a successful new product. For a kids' PC, the
requirements do not only come from the direct users, they also come
from their parents on whom the kids remain dependent. The s.point
team carefully considered the direct users, indirect users, and
the relationship within the family. Studying the requirements and
the possibilities of technology, this research provided valuable
input for the design process. |
